Increasing Global Competence from Tracie Kirven

Global Education

What skills do young people need to be successful in the 21st Century?
What does it mean to have a "global" classroom?
Do you want to globalize your classroom?  Chances are, if you're reading this far, you probably do... Here is where you can start:

Learn
Define global education and learn about why it’s might be important to shift your teaching.
Teach
Your curriculum probably already teaches some global competencies, but where can you go from there? Locate good global teaching resources and start using them. Trust me, your students will benefit.
Get Connected
Use technology to connect with classrooms around the world and learn about pressing issues of the times.
Get Abroad
If possible, find ways to travel and bring your own experiences into the classroom. There are also creative ways to get students out of the classroom, both locally and internationally.
Get Support
Join a program and/or connect with other educators who are also passionate about global education. Teachers for Global Classrooms is a great program to start with!
